Light and Sound

I've posted some videos I made for Back to the Bible - Philippines, International Bible Society, Christ Enthroned Church, Faith Bible Church, Proclaim His Name Christian Fellowship and others from 2003 up to today. I mainly used Sony Vegas 7 for my work since it’s the most easiest to handle, requires less CPU horsepower and the changes I make (plus the video preview) are in real time.

For the audio productions, I used Sound Forge 9 (for editing) and Vegas Pro 8 (for mixing). Most of it are for my radio segments and two are for radio dramas for the Lenten and Christmas Seasons.

I was minding my own business one hot and humid morning. The moment I got off from my shuttle service, I knew there was something wrong because there were hundreds of uziseros near our office. It turned out to be yet another tarpaulin billboard suicide attempt in Metro Manila. Really, minsan gusto ko ng itulak iyong mga taong gustong magpakamatay kasi marami silang naaabala at nalalagay pa sa peligro yung buhay nuong nangre-rescue! Translation: I pity da fool!

Back to the Bible - HistoryBack to the Bible:
History

Video, Back to the Bible
On May 1, 1939, Theodore Epp began the Back to the Bible Broadcast. Despite low mail responses and an even lower income to pay for the radio program bills, the broadcasts produced its very first convert – Mrs. Louise Jantzen, who later became a missionary to Africa. But the clouds of war were gathering over Europe. On September 1, 1939, five months after the broadcasts began, German Luftwaffe and Panzers attacked Poland. World War II had begun.

Muslims appreciate prayer. Five times a day devout Muslims bow before God. If prayer time comes when they are in the middle of work, play or any activity, they will kneel and pray.

When we meet a Muslim, we say “Salam alekum” or Peace be upon you. He will then respond, “We alekum salam” which means “And on you peace.” Peace is so elusive in Mindanao today. But we believe through our radio broadcasts and the work of our supported missionaries, pastors, Christian teachers and other church workers, peace will someday come to the land of the Moros. Just like what the Muslims say,
Enshallah -- the future is in God’s hands.

Heart BeatHeart Beat (2004 - 2006)
Radio Segment, Back to the Bible
Heart Beat
was a short feature over Heart Line, a radio counseling program by Back to the Bible - Philippines.

Narrated by Rexey Angeles Domingo, it was aired on 2004 and 2006. Heart Beat
is all about finding encouragement and hope by finding Bible-based truths from pop music mostly from the 1990s.

Back to the Bible – Philippines believes in the energy and the zeal of the Christian youth. That’s why, for two decades the ministry has supported hundreds of Bible school students by providing them scholarship grants and helping them pay for their tuition fees. Hundreds of financially challenged yet deserving students have achieved their dreams of pursuing higher education in Bible seminaries through Back to the Bible’s International Scholarship Fund.

Father's Day PromoFather’s Day Promo
Video, Christ Enthroned Church
Rev. Al Termulo, senior pastor of Christ Enthroned Church, requested that I produce a Father’s Day promo for our church. Knowing that most Father’s Day events in church were usually serenading and giving gifts to fathers, I decided to take on a new approach through videos. I tried to put together all the memorable “father moments” that I’ve seen in the movies and try to come up with a very sentimental presentation.

Rev. Al Termulo, senior pastor of Christ Enthroned Church, requested that I produce a promo for the 40 Days Purpose Driven Life Campaign in our church. Since this video promo was after I did the Father’s Day Promo, I decided to use the same approach of splicing some “purpose moments” from the cinema. It’s not as clear-cut like my previous presentation but I had fun doing it.

Interview
ABOUT THE WEBSITE

Q.
Is this really your website?

A.
No. Just because this site has my name on it, has news about me, my work, photos, interests, projects and favorites, plus the fact that the URL has my name on it doesn’t mean it’s mine. You know what? Maybe it’s my evil twin’s website!

Q.
Uhm, okay. No need to be sarcastic --

A.
Me!? Sarcastic!? Nothing could be farther from the truth. The truth is I would have liked to insult you, but the sad truth is that you wouldn’t understand me.

Q.
I don’t understand --

A.
Never mind. What I wanted to say is that my homepage is a great place to update people and friends of the family of the latest news and events about us. I personally like the fact that everything I’m into is a few Mozilla or Explorer clicks away.

Q.
Did you do this website?

A.
I did everything by myself during my spare time – which means I’m not playing video games or watching movies. It wasn’t easy, but it was fun. I think, in total, I spent almost five years of spare time working on this.

Q.
Why do you write in English if you are a Filipino?

A.
More people read English and I have a number of visitors who are from different parts of the world. Thus, it would be more practical to use a language that the majority of the world understands. Plus, it’s easier for me to express myself in English.

Writing in English allows me to get in touch with people from all over the world, which is the best quality that the Internet has. I am not planning to do a Filipino version of this site, but I seldom write anything interesting anyway so you can just watch the videos and look at the pictures.

Q.
What do you do for a living and what was your college major?

A.
I’m a Promotions Specialist for an international Christian organization. Back in college, I studied Broadcast Communications. I'm always doing some small projects to pay bills or buy stuff that I need, but usually it's not worth mentioning.

Q. Who asked you to mention it?

ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS

Q. Let’s talk about relationships.

A. I’m not married.

Q. Okay then, let’s talk about your absence of any relationship. Why do you think people avoid you like the Bubonic Plague?

A. I think it’s because others perceive me as being undemonstrative and self-controlled (the Uber-nerd, as such). Not wanting to be the center of attention, I just silently support others, which is what I did for this guy named Darth Sidious. I told him to lay off his stunt of ruling the universe with this “force” thing. Last time I heard, he fell inside a space station’s fusion reactor.

Q. Maybe you want to be alone most of the time.

A. Well, yes but that doesn’t mean I don’t like parties. I tend to be a traditionalist, and enjoy the social environment best if it is stable and predictable.

For example, if I get invited to a party, I'm not comfortable with the party turning dark and dreary, and having maidens sacrificed over a Druid monolith at the crypt while people in hooded robes chant phrases like "Martha Stewart is god."

I prefer a warm, friendly environment free of conflict and hostility. In that environment, I prefer reassurance of my involvement and self-worth. I think that was the basic thing I learned at the sanitarium along with my fellow inmates.

I like to be loyal to others. My loyalty shows in a variety of ways including my "staying power" with relationships and activities.

But lately, most of my friends have been exercising their own “staying power” by telling me to stay away from them for at least 50 meters (as specified by the court order). They would say things like, “Sit, stay, roll over!” or “Back off!” while pointing a finger two inches from my face.

I think I’m a good friend and I’m always willing to help those I consider to be my friends, although I’ve helped a lot of people who have perceived me to be the enemy.

And after years of helping my enemies, guess what? They still consider me as an enemy. Don’t you just love the consistency?

Q. Excuse me, I have to cut you. I sort of dozed off when you were talking about parties – could you repeat everything you just said?
