Light
and Sound
I've posted some videos I made for Back to the Bible -
Philippines, International Bible Society, Christ Enthroned
Church, Faith Bible Church, Proclaim His Name Christian
Fellowship and others from 2003 up to today. I mainly used
Sony Vegas 7 for my work since it’s the most easiest to
handle, requires less CPU horsepower and the changes I make
(plus the video preview) are in real time.
For the audio productions, I used Sound Forge 9 (for editing)
and Vegas Pro 8 (for mixing). Most of it are for my radio
segments and two are for radio dramas for the Lenten and
Christmas Seasons.

Ang
Kabalyero ng
Sta. Ibaņez
Radio Drama, Back to the Bible
For the two-part Ang Kabalyero ng Sta. Ibaņez (The
Rider from St. Ibaņez), I wrote the script (greatly
influenced by Clint Eastwood movies particularly Pale
Rider, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, plus
The Quick and The Dead. In fact, I used some effects and
music from those movies and some other great western movies
like Young Guns and Ennio Moriccone’s music). In
essence, the radio drama is Pale Rider meets The
Good, The Bad and The Ugly. It’s also my tribute to our
great Filipino radio drama artists who I used to listen to
back when I was a child in the seventies.
Since
this story required great dramatic talent plus versatility,
I needed the help of one of the greatest radio veterans (and
a personal favorite, too) — Kuya Joe Placiego. We discussed
the story and he got his pool of talents. They did superbly
well — you be the judge. The
radio drama was aired over FEBC - Philippines stations on
Lenten and Christmas (fully digitized in Dolby
Theater Surround sound although the radio station used mono
— ironic, I know).

Heart
line
Video, Back to the Bible
Heart Line
is a one and a half hour radio telephone counseling program
produced by Back to the Bible – Philippines and Far East
Broadcasting Company. Aired Mondays to Fridays from 9:30 to
11:00 in the evening, the program receives hundreds of text
messages each night and several phone-in questions from
Filipinos who are depressed, confused and those seeking
answers. Today,
Heart Line
receives no less than 200 text messages every night. The
program also receives numerous phone-in calls, letters and
e-mail messages.

Languages Project
Video, Back to the Bible
Despite being heard in eight radio
stations throughout the country, it’s been the vision of
Back to the Bible - Philippines to air the programs not only
to Tagalog-speaking Filipinos, but also to those who speak
Hiligaynon, Iloco and Cebuano. I voiced this video but I’m
working on another (better) version with Kaye Langit –
Luistro doing the voice over.
Ang
Handog
Radio Drama, Back to the Bible
Back to the Bible - Philippines
produces radio dramas for special occasions like Christmas
and the Lenten Season. For
Handog (The
Gift), I wrote the script
(partly influenced by the Lord
of The Rings trilogy) based on
the Christmas story. Well actually, more of a prequel to the
events that happened on Christmas.
Our voice talents (mainly my office-mates) recorded the
drama in our studio and I added the music and the effects in
my computer.
Watch
The Lamb
Video, Faith Bible Church
Ate Merlyn Guillermo asked that I produce an accompanying
video for their Christmas Cantata specifically for the song
Watch The Lamb. It was a very
heart-rending song and I needed to convey a strong message
about Jesus Christ being the “Lamb of God that takes away
the sins of the world.” This was one of the first video
presentations I made and I used some footage from Campus
Crusade for Christ’s Jesus
film. I think the video is also good for Lenten Season
presentations.
Booklat
(2003 - 2008)
Radio Segment, Back to the Bible
Booklat
or Book Ulat
(Report)
is a radio book review show by Back to the Bible -
Philippines where listeners have access to information and
news about books (available at Back to the Bible Bookstore
in Quezon City), authors and recommendations from witty,
sometimes zany guests. The show started in 2003, and has
reviewed books from our local and foreign partners like
Church Strengthening Ministries, OMF Publishing, Tyndale
Publishing, Thomas Nelson and many more.
Aside
from the many comedy skits, TV and movie parodies and
celebrity spoofs, Booklat
also interviewed Dr. Narry Santos, author of several books
on theology and Christian living. Conceptualized by Rev.
Clem Guillermo, the show aims to encourage people to read
the Bible and other Christian books.
Tanglaw sa Landas ng Buhay
has been airing the segment since 2003, and has featured
voice talents such as Maloi Salumbides, Kaye Langit -
Luistro, Ptr. Jay Banzuelo and my parents.
The
Booklat
Christmas Special was a two-part episode hosted by Ruth
Dela Rama - Dizon. Booklat finally closed its pages on
November 2008.
IBS
East Asia Report
Video, Faith Bible Church
Bishop Leo Alconga of the International Bible Society asked
me produce a video presentation for his regular meeting in
the USA. Pastor Jebo Banzuelo voiced the presentation. The
quality is very low since I was just learning how to use
Sony Vegas and Sound Forge.

ON
RELATIONSHIPS
I dislike sudden decisions about where to go or what to do,
preferring to think things out first. For instance, one of
my classmates in the Polytechnic University of The
Philippines (Sta. Mesa, Manila) invited me to take her out
for a date. I'm still thinking about it now if I should stay
or go.
Because of my lenient and complacent nature, others with
fewer scruples always take advantage of me. I could,
perhaps, benefit from greater assertiveness -- if it's okay
with you?
I dislike sudden or abrupt changes and prefer things the way
they are. Thus, I am fully convinced that this newfangled
Microsoft Office 2007 will never replace the high-tech and
flexible WordStar.
I show self-control in almost all things I do. I am not an
extremist. If I were, I would be shouting stuff like, “Death
to all fanatics!” The key word here is “almost all”.
Others may see me as stable, mature and steadfast. Perhaps,
but let me quote a distinguished evaluator of human thoughts
and intentions: “Hard to see, the dark side is (Yoda, The
Great Green Goblin from Dagobah).”
I sometimes demonstrate positive possessiveness by
developing strong attachments to friends. However, I am not
overly involved, as some others tend to do. That’s why some
of my friends think I’ve abandoned them after I failed to
call or text them in their birthdays, anniversaries,
deathbeds or funeral services. I’m not being insensitive
here, I mean, puh-leasse! How could I? Hello? Have you had
your head checked?
I have a basic need to be supportive of others. That’s why I
will agree with others, sometimes even if it's not what I
really want. That said I’d like everybody to know I wasn’t
in favor of the way the
Transformers movie
turned out. But they wanted to, so as not to disagree, I
agreed.
I tend to work hard at making sure that other people are
happy. Although, I sometimes think that when it is hard for
me it makes other people happy.
I am generally very patient with
people and I usually consider them prospective
friends after they’ve completed the prerequisite
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Test, Abstract Reasoning Test,
Logic Exams and Calculus Tests. It’s easy being friends with
me.
I don't get distracted by superficial issues like global
warming, rogue nation states stealing plutonium from the
former Soviet Union, the discovery of a hostile alien mother
ship landing on earth, a comet the size of Canada on a
collision course with our planet or North Korea launching a
“biological weapon” against the entire world that would
“kill everything that breathes.”
I mean, puh-lease? Can we talk about more pressing issues
here? I’m more into critical concerns like who Jennifer
Aniston is dating now or if Oprah gained one pound since
yesterday.
I’m somewhat good at helping others reach their goals. Like
what Buffy said, “It gives me the happy.” Though it doesn’t
include financial goals.
I’m a dependable and caring partner. Really. Just ask any of
my ex-girlfriends who are on substance abuse, psychological
rehabilitation, solitary confinement or tied to a steel bed
(to prevent more of those attempted suicides).
In fact, two of them are on parole after being convicted of
attempted manslaughter of an uncaring boyfriend. Just don’t
bring razors or any metal object when you visit them. They
tend to get, ah, uh, agitated.
I think I’m good at considering information from all sides
of an issue before making a decision.
That said, I think I’d really make more enemies from
friends because I will be objective in making decisions.
I think I’m good at "troubleshooting" potential problems in
a relationship. That’s why, if my homies in the hood start
mowin’ down each other wit dem uzis while de cruise in dem
chevies, I’ll tell them, “Yo, homeboy! Stop da fightin’,
please! I get pi**ed off when we be fightin’, foo’! Can't we
have a group (t)hug?!” And likes that, we be good, bro.
I think I’m excellent at listening to the concerns and ideas
of others. Although I can’t promise to agree with you or
solve your problem, I will most probably understand why you
think that way or where you’re coming from.
Others notice that I am a sincere person about what I say
and do. This trait, along with the excellent listening
skills, creates an atmosphere, which most people find
pleasant.
I learned that from Dr. Hannibal Lecter. People I
talk to tend to let their hair down. They sometimes let
their brains down too.
